I want to start off by stating that I, as the AD, do not advocate for students to their teachers for grade changes. That the process should strictly be initiated by the student with the teacher as it was the student’s performance in class that ultimately gave them the grade that was posted in most cases. However, there are some cases that the teacher may have miscalculated grades for that student that can be changed by following the steps below:
- Student communicates to the teacher(s) that the grades posted were inaccurate for the past XX grading period.
- Teacher agrees with student that the grades submitted for the XX grading were incorrect and therefor needs to be updated.
- Teacher schedules a meeting with the Principal to discuss the need for a grade change for the student and provides justification for the grade change.
- The Principal approves or denies that request for the grade change.
- If approved, a “grade change form (see attached)” is completed by the teacher and signed by the Principal. In some cases, further signatures may be required to approve of the grade change.
- Once the “grade change form” is completed, the form is given to the Site Tech or Registrar to update the grade (academic and or citizenship) for the student.
- At that point, someone should contact the AD to verify that the grade change has been updated in PowerSchool.
- Once the grade is verified by the AD in PowerSchool, the AD will update the eligibility status if the student’s gpa is 2.0 or above for both Academic and Citizenship.
- The AD will notify the Head Coach that the student is now eligible to play.

FAQ
Q1: My grades in PowerSchool shows that I am Eligible now!
A1: Grades in PowerSchool only reflect progress towards the next grading period. You must look at the Term Grades for that specific grading period and calculated the GPA to determine if the student is now eligible ONLY AFTER GRADES HAVE BEEN UPDATED BY THE Site Tech or Registrar.
Q2: The Teacher told me he updated my grades!
A2: The Teacher does not have the ability to update the official grades listed in “Term Grades” within PowerSchool. This action can only be completed by the Site Tech or Registrar once they receive a completed Grade Change Form signed by the Administration.
